Western New York has a wealth of information available through its more than 575 public, academic, special, hospital and school libraries.

Libraries spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year providing their patrons with access to databases not freely available anywhere else including the Internet. Library catalogs and remote access to these databases are provided to WNY patrons through library websites as well as onsite in the respective libraries.

Librarians spend many hours evaluating information resources including Internet websites before promoting them to their patrons to ensure quality and accuracy of the information. Patrons of these libraries then can access these resources free of charge. Libraries are the clearinghouses for quality information. They provide the best avenue for accessing resources and services to assist Western New Yorkers in their search for information.
